Part 1

💔 **The wife I thought was dead was begging on Peachtree, holding my son—and my world tilted off its axis forever.**

Eli thought his wife, Naomi, died two years ago in a tragic car accident, leaving him to run Sterling-Jones Holdings alone, clinging to memories.

He was walking past the Peachtree Center MARTA station, lost in thought, when he saw her.

There, on the sidewalk, Naomi was begging, clutching a small child Eli had never seen before.

His entire world tilted off its axis.

Eli froze. His briefcase slipped from his numb fingers, hitting the pavement with a dull thud.

He blinked again, trying to make sense of the impossible image. That face. Those eyes. It was Naomi.

His wife, dead for two years.

She sat on the dirty sidewalk, a cardboard sign beside her, holding a small, brown-skinned boy. He couldn’t have been more than five or six.

Who was this child?

Naomi looked up, her gaze vacant, until their eyes locked. Recognition flickered, then terror.

She scrambled up, pulling the child behind her. Eli started to move, pushing through the indifferent crowd.

“Naomi!” he called, his voice rough.

She didn’t answer. Her eyes darted around, searching for an escape.

The child peered out from behind her torn dress, his wide, dark eyes fixed on Eli. A strange mix of fear and curiosity. Eli felt a jolt.

There was something in those eyes… a familiarity he couldn’t place, yet couldn’t shake.

He finally reached the edge of the curb.

“Naomi, what is happening?” he demanded, extending a hand. “It’s me, Eli.”

She recoiled, clutching the child tighter, her expression hardening into a mask of pure desperation.

“Please,” she whispered, her voice hoarse, “Just… go.”

But Eli couldn’t move. Naomi was alive, right here, and that child looked so much like… no, it couldn’t be.

Was this boy his son?

Part 2

“Tell me,” I pleaded, my voice breaking. “Who is this child?”

Naomi’s eyes, wide with fear, darted to the boy.

“It’s EJ.”

Her voice was a raw whisper.

“Your son.”

My world spun. My son.

The child I thought was lost to me forever.

“My mother,” Naomi choked out, her gaze fixed on the dirty pavement.

“Vivian.”

“She faked my death.”

The words ripped through me.

“She wanted EJ gone.”

“She wanted control.”

My own mother.

She had orchestrated all of it, to eliminate her grandson as an heir and seize power.

I looked at EJ, my child, alive because of Naomi’s suffering.

My heart pounded with a mix of fury and disbelief. I had to protect them.

But Vivian was my mother, forcing me to choose between family loyalty and long-deferred justice.
