Chapter 1: The Serpent’s Embrace

#content-1

Part 1

👶 **They Stripped Me Of Everything On My Hospital Bed — But They Missed One Crucial Detail.**

I was still hazy from the delivery, my legs numb and useless beneath the hospital sheet. My husband, Marco, kissed my forehead, then stepped aside.

His mother, Carmela, and a woman I’d never seen before entered my room.

Carmela produced a stack of papers, her smile thin and predatory.

“Sign them, Elena. All of it.”

My newborn son lay whimpering in the bassinet beside my bed. Carmela slapped my face, hard.

She told me no one would believe a paralyzed woman’s word against the Rossi family. I stared at the ceiling, every nerve screaming.

My fingers still managed to activate the small, discreet voice recorder hidden under my pillow.

The woman I’d never seen before smirked at me. I recognized her from photos later: Sofia Morelli, Marco’s mistress.

Marco avoided my gaze. Carmela shoved a pen into my hand.

“These papers transfer all your assets to Marco,” she said, her voice sharp.

“Every business, every holding, every family connection.”

My eyes flickered to Marco. He merely nodded, a pathetic confirmation of his betrayal.

Then, Arthur Jenkins, the family’s lawyer, stepped forward. He held an official-looking briefcase.

“And these,” he announced, his tone utterly devoid of warmth.

“Confirm the transfer of all illicit operations as well. You’ll be left with nothing, Elena.”

My vision blurred as I realized the depth of their calculated, complete takeover. They weren’t just taking my name; they were erasing me from the entire Rossi syndicate. What could a paralyzed woman do against such total power, against a family that believed her words meant nothing?

Part 2

Arthur Jenkins closed his briefcase with a snap. He nodded once to Carmela, a thin smile on his face, then turned and exited the room.

Carmela leaned over me, her breath hot on my face.

“This is over, Elena. You lost everything.”

Marco stood by the bassinet, his gaze finally meeting mine, a cruel satisfaction in his eyes.

Then, the door opened again.

A different man stepped in.

Silvio Moretti, an enforcer I’d known for years, entered my hospital room.

He wasn’t carrying any legal papers.

Silvio caught my eye, a flicker of something ancient in his stare.

He uttered two words, barely audible:

“Betrayed bloodline.”

Then, his gaze dropped to my left hand, tracing an invisible line to the IV pole. His finger tapped the metal pole twice, a specific rhythm.

I knew he was speaking of a ledger, a hidden entry.

He gave no further explanation.

I was left staring after him, my mind spinning, trying to decipher his true motives and what ‘betrayed bloodline’ could possibly mean.
