Part 1

💥 **My own son tried to abduct a little girl for her inheritance — but he forgot who runs this town.**
I just walked into Rosie’s Diner, ready for coffee, when a terrified six-year-old girl pulled on my leather jacket. She whispered, “That’s not Dad,” pointing to the man clutching her arm at a nearby booth.
It was my son, Jesse Kincaid, holding Lily Mae Reynolds, a child I hadn’t seen in months. In that moment, something broke inside me.
Three hundred members of my club, former servicemen all, rose from their seats, forming an unbreakable wall between Jesse and the exit. Jesse turned white.
“The girl is lying!” he shouted.
His hand, however, never left his pocket, ready for a fight he didn’t realize he was already losing.
My gaze locked with Jesse’s. His eyes, usually so quick, darted around the suddenly silent diner, then settled on me with a flicker of defiance.
Lily Mae trembled beside him, her small hand still clutching my jacket. I stepped towards them.
“Jesse,” I said, my voice low. “What in God’s name is going on here?”
“This is none of your business, Dad. She’s my daughter.”
“Your daughter?” My voice hardened. “Lily Mae hasn’t been in your care for months.”
“And what was that she just whispered?”
Jesse’s jaw clenched. “She’s confused. Evelyn’s passing has hit her hard.”
“I’m her guardian now.”
He tried to pull Lily Mae closer, but she dug her heels in.
Rosie O’Malley, the diner owner, stepped from behind her counter, a rolling pin in her hand.
“Jesse Kincaid, you let that child go. She looks terrified.”
“Stay out of this, Rosie,” Jesse snarled.
He forced a smile, though his eyes were still scanning the room, landing on the hardened faces of Grits Monroe and the other Desert Vultures. They stood motionless, a silent, unmoving blockade.
“I have legal papers, Dad,” Jesse said, his voice dropping slightly, a sneer forming. “Legitimate ones.”
“Everything’s above board.”
He pulled a folded document from his jacket pocket with his free hand, unfolding it with a flourish. The paper was official, stamped with what looked like a notary’s seal.
“These are Evelyn Reynolds’ guardianship papers,” he declared, holding them up. “Signed, sealed.”
“They state I have full custody of Lily Mae Reynolds. My name is on them, clear as day.”
He smirked, seeing my expression. “So, Arthur Kincaid, if you try to interfere with my daughter or my legal rights, I’ll have you and your entire motorcycle club arrested for kidnapping.”
“You understand me?”
Jesse’s gaze held mine, his eyes gleaming with a triumph I couldn’t comprehend. He threatened Arthur with legal action for interference.

Part 2

The threat hung in the air, but the official-looking papers still left me stunned. Grits, however, leaned closer to me, his eyes on Jesse.
“Evelyn only passed a week ago, Art,” he muttered, low enough only for me to hear. “Those papers surfaced too fast.”
My gaze snapped back to Jesse, the pieces clicking into place. Evelyn Reynolds, Lily Mae’s biological mother, had died suddenly and unexpectedly.
Jesse wasn’t just claiming a child; he was after something more. Evelyn’s estate, whatever she’d left for Lily Mae. This wasn’t just an abduction; it was a grab for an inheritance.
Before I could challenge him, Jesse pulled a crumpled paper from his pocket and walked straight to Rosie’s payphone.
He dialled quickly, then his voice boomed across the silent diner. “Officer Miller? I need to report an attempted child abduction and harassment.”
His eyes fixed on me, a chilling smile playing on his lips. “My father, Arthur Kincaid, and his motorcycle club are currently trying to kidnap Lily Mae Reynolds.”
He slammed the receiver down, knowing full well Officer Miller would have to open an official investigation against me and the Vultures.
