Chapter 10: The Climax Table Reveal

#content-1

Victoria’s hand, adorned with a sparkling diamond ring, clasped the handle of the silver cloche. With a flourish, she lifted it.

A gasp tore from her throat. It was not a sound of surprise, but of pure, unadulterated horror. She staggered back from the table, knocking over her champagne flute, the crystal shattering on the polished wood floor. A blood-curdling scream erupted from her, raw and primal, echoing through the dim dining room.

Laid before her, on the soot-covered metallic tray from the incinerator, were the scorched brass audio spools. They were melted into twisted, unrecognizable metal, blackened and grotesque, their delicate wires fused into brittle tangles. Beside them, pristine white against the ash, was the corporate incinerator receipt bearing her irrefutable signature.

The other board members stared, stunned. Marcus, pale as a ghost, pushed back his chair, his eyes fixed on the evidence.

I didn’t raise my voice. I didn’t need to. “Victoria’s efficiency,” I said, my voice cutting through the stunned silence, “extended to incinerating critical charity assets and billing it to the Foundation. A clear violation of federal law.”

I then quietly laid out the SEC whistleblower filing, still warm from the printer, for the horrified board members to see. It detailed every aspect of Victoria’s corporate fraud, her fraudulent accounting, her asset stripping.

Beside it, I placed Julian Croft’s kickback contract, outlining the deliberate undervaluation of the orphanage land and Victoria’s hidden 40% share in Azure Holdings Ltd. The paper trail was complete, undeniable.

Victoria’s face was a mask of utter disbelief, her eyes wide with a dawning, terrifying realization. Her fraud was exposed. Her career was destroyed. But there was a deeper horror etched into her features.

The master bear. Inside one of those 50 bears, the one Maya had worked on for so long, I had hidden the Foundation’s original corporate founding charter—a fragile, irreplaceable document that verified our shares, legally binding every asset. Victoria had incinerated the very document that secured her own legal claim to the company shares, to spite Maya. She had burned herself down to ash.
