I stood quietly near the velvet rope, lost in the crowd, Clara’s silver recorder clasped firmly in my hand. It was in plain view, glinting under the harsh lights.
Arthur’s eyes, as he scanned the crowd for his next interview, snagged on the recorder. His smile vanished. The color drained from his face, leaving him pale and stark. His shoulders stiffened.
