Chapter 7: The Fallout on Sunday

#content-1

The aftermath was immediate, swift, and brutal.

The “Entertainment Tonight” segment went viral within minutes of airing.

Clips of Julian’s frantic phone call and Evelyn’s shrill denial flooded social media, retweeted and replayed millions of times.

The internet, with its insatiable appetite for drama and justice, had found its new villains.

I was safely whisked away from the studio by Colonel Rossi and Ms. Albright, as planned.

Chloe, pale but resolute, followed closely behind.

We watched the news from a secure, undisclosed location, witnessing the complete implosion of Julian and Evelyn Vance’s carefully constructed empire.

The first major blow landed within hours.

Bernard Finch, the usually unflappable CEO of Zenith Records, called an emergency press conference the very next morning.

His face on the screen was grim, his words precise.

“Zenith Records has always stood for artistic integrity and ethical conduct,” he stated, his voice resonating with corporate authority.

“In light of recent, deeply disturbing revelations regarding the conduct of Julian Vance and his management company, particularly concerning Ms. Eliza Rossi, we have no choice but to act decisively.”

He paused for dramatic effect, then delivered the fatal blow.

“Effective immediately, Zenith Records is suspending all joint ventures with Vance Management. Furthermore, we are initiating a full internal investigation into allegations of professional misconduct and, in consultation with our legal team, are moving to freeze all assets related to these ventures, citing the ‘Moral Turpitude’ clause as clearly breached.”

He didn’t just fire Julian; he publicly eviscerated him.

Millions in assets, frozen.

His management company, the very foundation of his power, shattered.

The industry, which valued image and stability above all else, was abandoning him en masse.

Other artists managed by Vance Management began publicly terminating their contracts, citing “loss of trust” and “ethical concerns.”

Sponsors, wary of the scandal, pulled their endorsements from any projects even tangentially related to Julian.

Evelyn Vance, once a faded star clinging to her son’s coattails, found her own limited public appearances canceled.

Her agent dropped her.

Her carefully curated social circle, ever fickle, vanished overnight.

Her legacy, which she had so desperately sought to maintain through Julian, was now irrevocably tarnished by his disgrace.

Legal proceedings began almost instantly.

Ms. Albright worked tirelessly, filing for divorce on my behalf, citing the “Moral Turpitude” clause as the basis for a complete forfeiture of Julian’s claims to my assets and future earnings.

The medical report from Dr. Sharma, along with Chloe’s meticulously kept logbook, became irrefutable evidence.

Julian’s desperate attempts to find lawyers willing to represent him were met with polite refusals.

No one wanted to touch a case so publicly tainted, so ethically indefensible.

He was a pariah.

Evelyn, equally desperate, tried to issue statements, to rally support from old Hollywood friends, but her pleas fell on deaf ears.

Her image as the sophisticated, elegant matriarch was now replaced by the viral clip of her shrieking at a television camera.

The irony was not lost on anyone.

Their obsession with image had ultimately led to its complete destruction.

In the quiet of our safe house, I watched the news reports, a strange mix of relief and exhaustion washing over me.

It was over.

The nightmare was finally ending.

“You did it, Eliza,” my father said, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder.

“You stood up to them, and you won’t ever have to look back.”

Chloe, sitting beside me, still looked a little shell-shocked but a faint smile played on her lips.

“I can’t believe it’s really over,” she whispered.

“No more logs. No more lies.”

I looked down at my swollen belly, gently rubbing it.

Hope.

Safe.

Protected.

The fight had been hard, terrifying, but worth every single moment.

Julian and Evelyn Vance were left with nothing but the ruins of their own making.

Their power, their control, their carefully crafted public persona, all crumbled under the weight of their own cruelty.

And I, Eliza Rossi, was finally free.
