Nadia’s face had gone utterly ashen. The sight of Marcus, alive and in a hospital conference room, was clearly her worst nightmare come to life. Her lawyer, Mr. Thompson, looked between them, a frown creasing his brow.

“Mr. Salinger,” Thompson said, trying to regain control. “What relevance could your testimony possibly have here?”

Marcus ignored him, opening his binder and placing it on the table. He didn’t look at Nadia, but addressed Ms. Albright and Mr. Davies directly.

“Nadia Lindqvist has a documented pattern of predatory behavior,” Marcus began, his voice clear and steady. “She identifies vulnerable individuals, often with assets or a stable home, then manipulates her way into their lives. Her modus operandi involves creating artificial ‘medical crises’ or exploiting existing health issues to gain control through power of attorney.”

He flipped open the binder. “Here, I have her bank records from three years ago. Notice the transfers, Ms. Albright? Large sums, moved from my accounts to offshore accounts in her name, coinciding with my ex-wife’s fabricated ‘health emergency’.”

He slid a printout across the table. It was a digital image of text messages. “These are text logs from my phone, exchanged with Nadia. She explicitly advises me to withhold my ex-wife’s blood pressure medication, claiming it was ‘interfering with her natural healing process’.”

Ms. Albright’s eyes narrowed as she read, then looked at Nadia, whose face was now a mask of horror.

“And here,” Marcus continued, pulling out more documents, “are court judgments from two previous cases, one in California, one in Florida. Both involved similar scenarios. Both resulted in injunctions against her, though she managed to disappear before civil liability could fully attach.”

The twist here was undeniable: Marcus wasn’t just providing testimony; he was laying bare a meticulously documented history, a systemic pattern of Nadia’s crimes. This wasn’t an isolated incident; it was her life’s work.

“Each case followed a similar escalation,” Marcus explained. “She’d isolate the victim, spread misinformation about their health, then, once a medical crisis developed, she’d swoop in, offering to ‘help’ by managing their finances or property, often trying to get them to sign over power of attorney.”

He pointed to a specific document. “This is a sworn affidavit from a former associate of Nadia’s, detailing her strategy. It mentions how she specifically targets individuals who might have past legal issues, knowing their credibility can be easily undermined.”

Thompson, Nadia’s lawyer, tried to interrupt. “Objection! Hearsay! This is irrelevant speculation!”

“On the contrary, Mr. Thompson,” Mr. Davies replied, his voice chillingly calm. “This provides critical context for Ms. Lindqvist’s actions here. It demonstrates intent, motive, and a pre-meditated pattern. This makes her personally and solely liable for Chloe Karr’s medical expenses, and possibly subject to criminal prosecution.”

Nadia suddenly pushed her chair back, a low growl escaping her lips. Her eyes darted around the room, wild with fear. The carefully constructed façade had crumbled, revealing the desperate, cornered predator underneath. The room fell silent, the only sound the rustle of Marcus’s papers.

He looked directly at Nadia, his gaze unwavering. “You thought you could get away with it again, didn’t you, Nadia? You thought you could destroy another life and walk away clean. But not this time. Not with Chloe.”
