Willow Creek's Secret: The Baker, The Fire, and The Man Who Knew Too Much
Part 1
🔥 **Silas Caldwell burned her bakery and murdered her family, then sent his men to hunt her through a blizzard — but the truth about him would be far more chilling.**
Elara Finch simply wanted to bake pies and sell local produce, a fresh start in the quiet town of Willow Creek, a world away from her past. Then one frigid December night, roaring flames consumed her family’s bakery, taking her Aunt Maeve and cousin Finn with it.
She scrambled out, barely alive, the smell of smoke and death clinging to her skin. Three days later, Elara was huddled in a remote cabin with a stranger, a harsh blizzard raging outside.
The familiar crunch of snow under heavy boots began to approach. Her rescuer, Liam Kestrel, grabbed his rifle, his knuckles white.
“They found you,” he whispered.
Elara’s breath hitched. She pulled the thin blanket tighter around her, her eyes fixed on the door.
“They’re Silas’s men, aren’t they?” she demanded, a tremor in her voice.
Liam scanned the frosted windowpane, a grim shadow crossing his face.
“He’ll stop at nothing to get what he wants.”
Elara remembered the initial haze of her rescue, the suspicion that had clung to Liam despite his help. Why had he been out in that storm?
Now, looking at his hard-set jaw, the pieces clicked into place.
“You know him, don’t you?” she asked, her voice barely a whisper.
Liam met her gaze, his eyes flinty and hardened by something Elara couldn’t yet decipher.
“We met a long time ago,” he said.
“Another town, another land deal.”
Part 2
Elara’s fever blurred the cabin, her body shaking. Liam, despite his gruffness, tended to her, pressing broth to her lips.
He placed his hunting rifle near her cot, the truck keys beside it, a silent offer of freedom.
The blizzard raged, Elara shivering. Liam eventually lay beside her, sharing his body heat.
Just as a fragile trust began, the distinct drone of snowmobiles sliced through the wind, closer.
Liam’s eyes locked with hers, grim. “He’s been at this longer than you know,” Liam murmured.
“Silas wasn’t just after the land, Elara; he’s been meticulously sabotaging Willow Creek Provisions’ finances for months, aiming for a forced sale.”
