After My Cult "Divorce," My Ex Tried To Steal $1M With My Card, But My Father's Warning Saved Me
Part 1
😡 **My Ex Tried to Steal a Million Dollars with My Card After Our Cult “Divorce”—My Father’s Warning Saved Everything.**
I changed the access codes to our communal Steward’s Card, just like my father, Elder Jonas, urged after my unchaining from Silas.
He was so certain Silas would try something. Hours later, Silas took Lyra, his new partner, to the community’s prohibited border town.
He tried to use my Steward’s Card to spend nearly $1 million on opulent, forbidden items for her and himself. The transaction was rejected because I had followed my father’s counsel.
This left Silas humiliated at the checkout, surrounded by gasps from other former members. My father believed this was just the beginning.
He was convinced the unraveling of my union was part of a larger plan by Silas to exploit the Covenant’s resources. What if his warnings were only half of the story?
After the humiliation, I found my father in his study, poring over old tithe ledgers. He didn’t even look up when I entered.
“Silas has always been a snake, Elara,” Elder Jonas said, his voice a low rumble. “But this… this is too clumsy for him.”
He tapped a weathered page with his finger. “High Elder Theron announced Silas was unchained for ‘worldly indulgence.’ A convenient lie.”
My breath caught.
“A lie? What are you saying, Father?”
“Silas wasn’t just pursuing luxury,” my father continued, his gaze finally meeting mine, sharp and knowing.
“He was preparing to expose Theron himself. Diverting Sanctuary Tithes, unsanctioned land deals.”
“Silas was getting too close to High Elder Theron’s own questionable financial dealings.”
Part 2
“What land deals, Father? What are you saying?” My voice was barely a whisper.
He sighed, a heavy sound that seemed to carry years of burden.
“Years ago,” he began, looking at the old ledger. “Whispers of communal funds diverted for plots outside the Sanctuary.”
“Lands never officially recorded.”
My stomach tightened. “And Silas knew this?”
“He found evidence,” Elder Jonas nodded slowly. “Evidence High Elder Theron swiftly buried, along with Silas’s standing.”
Days later, I walked through the designated marketplace, my mind still reeling.
Then I saw her. Lyra, standing by the fruit stalls, not with Silas, but alone.
Her eyes darted around, her shoulders hunched. A nervous tremor ran through her hands as she picked up an apple, then put it down.
She looked trapped, not cherished.
It hit me then, a cold dread settling in my chest.
Lyra wasn’t Silas’s partner; she was a victim, coerced into his schemes by threats against her exiled family.
