Her Abusive Fiancé Was About To Be Honored, But Her Billionaire Boss Saw Her Bruises And Decided To Expose Him
Part 1
🚨 **Her fiancé was about to be honored at a gala—until my boss saw the bruises I tried to hide, and everything changed.**
I just finished applying the last layer of cover-up to the bruising on my arm. Three hours later, my boss, Ethan Albright, was staring at the fresh marks, his face a mask of cold fury. He’d walked into the wrong dressing room at his family estate, only to find me, his personal assistant, preparing for the very gala where my fiancé, Dr. Elias Croft, was to be honored. The pain was nothing compared to the shame, but the way he looked at my trembling hand told me everything had just irrevocably changed.
The heavy brocade curtains of the dressing room parted without a knock. Ethan Albright stood framed in the doorway, his custom tuxedo perfect, but his eyes zeroed in on my exposed arm. My breath hitched.
“Eleanor,” he said, his voice quiet, “what happened to you?”
I snatched my hand back, pulling my sleeve down instantly. My heart hammered against my ribs.
“Just a clumsy accident,” I mumbled, trying to make my voice sound normal. “Tripped over a rug earlier. You know me.”
He stepped fully into the room, his gaze unwavering. He gestured towards the vanity, to the half-empty tube of industrial-strength concealer.
“That’s quite a fall,” he observed, his eyes narrowing slightly. “And for a rug?”
My fingers fumbled with the clasp of a necklace. I could feel the blood rising to my cheeks, hot and undeniable.
“Yes, well,” I started, trying to laugh it off. The sound came out strained. “I suppose I’m just terribly uncoordinated tonight.”
He didn’t smile. He simply watched my hands, which had begun to tremble visibly. My gaze flickered to the door, then back to his intense stare.
A muscle in his jaw twitched. He took a slow, deliberate breath, his eyes tracing the line of my jaw, then dropping to my still-shaking fingers.
“You look terrified, Eleanor,” he stated, his voice now a low murmur.
My carefully constructed mask faltered. I could feel the terror, cold and sharp, clawing its way up my throat. I swallowed hard, unable to meet his gaze.
He didn’t press. Instead, he simply turned, his movements fluid, and walked out of the room, leaving the curtains to fall silently back into place. He left, unsettled, and Eleanor was left with a fresh wave of shame, fearing the delicate balance of her engagement to Elias Croft would collapse if Ethan Albright revealed her secret.
Part 2
Ethan couldn’t shake the image of Eleanor’s trembling hands. The fear in her eyes was too raw, too real for a simple trip and fall. He spent the next few days making discreet inquiries, tapping into the quiet gossip that floated beneath the surface of their elite social circles.
He began cross-referencing Dr. Elias Croft’s meticulously curated public image with any faint whispers about his past relationships. It wasn’t long before a disturbing pattern emerged. There were at least three previous partners who had vanished from the scene, always after mysteriously “falling ill” or “becoming unstable.”
Each time, the narrative was the same: the woman was fragile, Dr. Croft the understanding, but ultimately sorrowful, victim of circumstances. This history, carefully scrubbed from official records, now painted a chilling picture. Eleanor wasn’t just clumsy; she was clearly trapped, and Dr. Croft was nothing less than a master manipulator.
