👉 Previous decision: You chose Option A – Smuggle Devon Hart’s physical medical records directly to veteran news anchor Marcus Finch at the ceremony (from Chapter 8).
Dragged away by security, I was quickly ushered out of the venue, but my eyes remained fixed on Marcus Finch, still standing at the edge of the red carpet, the heavy file in his hand. He looked at it, then at his producer, then back at the file, his brow furrowed in concentration.
Later that evening, after being released with a stern warning and no charges – Apex wanted no official record of my disruption – I found a dilapidated motel on the outskirts of Los Angeles. I turned on the ancient television, the screen flickering to life with the Global Entertainment Awards broadcast.
The show was well underway, moments before a major award presentation. The camera cut to a live segment with Marcus Finch, now seated at a studio desk. He looked serious, his usual charismatic smile replaced by a grave expression.
“We interrupt this broadcast for an urgent, developing story,” Finch announced, his voice carrying an undeniable weight of authority. He held up the folder, Devon Hart’s name clearly visible on the cover. “Earlier this evening, I was handed these documents. What they contain is nothing short of a travesty.”
My breath hitched. My hands clenched into fists.
Finch opened the folder, pulling out the emergency hospital admission report. “For years, the public believed pop icon Devon Hart quietly retired due to stress. We now have undeniable proof that this was a deliberate fabrication by Apex Celebrity Media.”
He paused, letting the words sink in. The camera zoomed slightly on the documents.
“These records,” Finch continued, his voice rising, “detail a catastrophic neurological injury suffered during an experimental publicity stunt gone horribly wrong. Not a peaceful retirement, but severe brain trauma, meticulously covered up.”
He read specific excerpts from the report: “Intracranial hemorrhage… severe cortical damage… patient in induced coma for 112 days.” The numbers, concrete and horrifying, painted a grim picture. He even cited the internal Apex memo about the “Class Omega memory wipe” for personnel involved.
The words hung in the air, echoing in my tiny motel room. Across millions of homes, the truth was finally being spoken. Julian’s carefully constructed empire of lies, built on erased memories and corporate ruthlessness, was starting to crumble.
Finch looked directly into the camera, his gaze piercing. “The question we must now ask is: what other truths has Apex Celebrity Media buried? And at what cost?”
The broadcast then cut to a commercial, but the impact was already clear. A seismic shockwave had just hit Hollywood. The truth, smuggled out in a simple folder, was now exposed to tens of millions worldwide.
