Soundstage 4 hummed with a different kind of energy. The live audience was buzzing in the bleachers, their excitement a palpable wave. Bright lights blazed down on the elaborately constructed set for the season finale, a meticulously detailed replica of our show’s high school auditorium. Crew members made last-minute adjustments, the air thick with anticipation.

I stood backstage, waiting for my cue, the roar of the crowd a distant ocean. Julian Kincaid approached me during a camera reset, his eyes dark with a cold intensity I knew well. He held a prop microphone, his fingers drumming lightly against it.

“Chloe,” he whispered, his voice low and menacing, just for my ears. “A final reminder. After tonight’s shoot, you will sign those studio papers. Every single one.”

He leaned closer, his breath warm against my ear. “Or, I release those photos. Every major outlet. Your career, Chloe. Over. Forever. And this time, no one will believe you. Not after the headlines. Not after the network sees what you *really* are.”

He paused, letting his words sink in, watching my face for any flicker of doubt or fear. He wanted to see me break. He believed he had already won.

I looked him straight in the eye, refusing to back down, refusing to give him the satisfaction. A strange calm had settled over me. The truth was coming. His threats, his fabricated photos, his gaslighting—all of it was about to unravel.

“You should check the studio entrance doors, Julian,” I said, my voice barely a whisper, but firm.

His brow furrowed, a tiny crack in his confident facade. He started to say something, but our stage manager called our names.

“Places, everyone! Five minutes to live!”

Julian hesitated for a split second, then glared at me, his face twisting with irritation, before turning to take his mark on stage.

The red light on the camera flickered on. The audience cheered. The scene began. We delivered our lines, perfectly in sync, playing our characters for the roaring crowd. It was a powerful, dramatic scene, filled with emotion and high stakes for our fictional characters.

But the real drama, the one Julian had unwittingly set in motion, was unfolding just outside the soundstage. Unmarked LAPD vehicles, dark sedans and discreet SUVs, were pulling up onto the studio lot. Uniformed officers, led by Detective Frank Callahan, exited their cars, their faces grim, their movements purposeful.

They bypassed the usual security checkpoints, heading directly toward Soundstage 4. The studio guards, recognizing the LAPD’s official presence, offered no resistance.

The double doors of Soundstage 4, the very doors Julian had just ignored, loomed large. The metallic clang of their boots on the concrete grew closer with every passing second, a rhythm of justice marching toward its inevitable conclusion.
