My 28-Year-Old Co-Producer Handed Me Concealer to Cover the Bruise He Gave Me Before Filming — So I Used My Secret Trust to Expose His Mother's $340,000 Charity Theft
The knock on my dressing room door came precisely at 9 AM, just as I was finishing my breakfast bar. The heavy oak door swung open to reveal a network doctor, a woman with a kind but firm expression, flanked by two studio security guards. Diane Holloway herself stood slightly behind them, her arms crossed, her eyes cold and unblinking.
“Chloe Albright?” the doctor asked, her voice professional and calm. “I’m Dr. Evelyn Reed. We need to conduct an evaluation.”
“Of course, Doctor,” I replied, my voice steady. I felt a surge of adrenaline, but I didn’t let it show. I knew this was coming. This was Julian’s play.
Holloway stepped forward. “Chloe, your recent behavior has caused us some concern. Julian has raised some serious issues regarding your well-being. We believe a 72-hour observation is in order, for your own safety and the safety of the production.”
She held up a clipboard, presumably the paperwork for the involuntary hold. The security guards shifted, their presence a silent threat.
“I understand,” I said, meeting Holloway’s gaze. “However, I assure you, my well-being is perfectly sound. And my memory is intact.”
Dr. Reed looked at me, her gaze searching. “Chloe, Julian mentioned you’ve been experiencing periods of distress, perhaps even self-harm. He noted a bruise on your neck a few weeks ago.”
“Yes, the bruise,” I acknowledged. “Julian had an explanation for that, didn’t he? A tripped cable, a fall. A ‘hysterical memory’ on my part.”
I reached into my bag and pulled out my phone. “Doctor, Ms. Holloway, I’ve been very diligent about documenting my daily schedule and mental state. It helps me manage the demands of the show.”
I opened a specific app on my phone. “These are timestamped voice memos. I record them every morning and evening. They’re like an audio diary.”
I played the first recording. My voice, clear and concise, detailing my morning routine, my script lines for the day, and even a brief, upbeat humming of a new melody I was working on. It was dated the morning *after* the incident with Julian.
“And this one,” I said, skipping to another. “This is a rehearsal for a difficult scene. I’m running lines, talking through character motivation. It was recorded the same day Julian reported my ‘distress’ to the studio medic.”
The recording played. My voice was calm, articulate, completely focused on the scene. There was no hint of paranoia, no slurring, no erratic behavior. I had carefully documented my mental clarity, a habit I’d started years ago for my independent audio projects.
Dr. Reed listened intently, her expression unreadable. She looked at Holloway, then back at me.
“Chloe, are you currently feeling any thoughts of self-harm, or distress that impacts your ability to perform your duties safely?” she asked, her voice gentler now.
“Absolutely not, Doctor,” I responded, my eyes steady. “I’m here, I’m present, and I’m ready to work. My only ‘distress’ is the ongoing attempt by Julian to undermine my professional standing and personal autonomy.”
Dr. Reed closed her clipboard. She walked over to Holloway, speaking in a low, firm voice that I couldn’t quite decipher, but the words “no legal grounds” were distinct.
Holloway’s jaw tightened. She shot a furious glance at the doctor, then at me. Julian’s attempt to use the medical system to sideline me had failed completely. The doctor wasn’t signing the paperwork.
“Very well,” Holloway said, her voice clipped. “Chloe, you are expected on set in thirty minutes.” She glared, then spun on her heel and walked away, the security guards following her.
Dr. Reed gave me a small, almost imperceptible nod. “Keep documenting, Chloe. It’s a powerful tool.”
The door closed, leaving me alone again. Julian’s frustration, I knew, would be immense. His psychological warfare, his effort to brand me as unstable, had just backfired spectacularly. I had held my ground, and in doing so, I had taken another step toward exposing his true nature.
