Chapter 15: Caldwell’s Retreat

#content-1

Days turned into a week. The media frenzy around Dynasty Solutions’ collapse slowly began to subside, replaced by analyses of the wider implications for tech startups. Caldwell himself vanished from public view.

But Eleanor Sutton, ever vigilant, didn’t let up. She was like a bloodhound, always sniffing out the truth. She tipped me off.

“He’s at the private airport,” she texted, a single photo attached: Caldwell, looking smaller, older, rushing across the tarmac toward a waiting jet, surrounded by a few harried assistants carrying what looked like expensive luggage.

He was attempting to liquidate any remaining personal assets he could and flee the public scrutiny, taking whatever he could salvage before the full legal and financial reckoning. There were no flashing lights, no arrests, no dramatic perp walk. Just a disgraced man, trying to slip away in shame, leaving behind a ruined company and a trail of broken promises. No one was actively ‘enforcing’ anything yet, but the consequences were undeniable.
