“Give me that,” I demanded, my voice tight. “What did you take from my vault?”
Chloe sidestepped, pulling the binder tighter to her chest. A thin, defiant line formed on her lips.
“Took?” she scoffed, her gaze sweeping over the splintered metal of the vault door. “I’m not ‘taking’ anything, Marcus. This is my property.”

My jaw tightened. What was she even talking about?
“Your late father’s estate,” she continued, her voice dripping with pity, “set up a confidential 2018 studio trust. It legally co-owns this property.”
She paused, watching me for a reaction. “It’s all in here.” She patted the binder. “Every single clause.”
A cold dread began to spread through me. It was a familiar, gaslighting tactic, twisting reality until I doubted my own memory.
“That’s a lie,” I whispered, barely audible over the thumping in my ears. “My father was an analyst, not a studio executive.”
“Details, details,” Chloe waved a dismissive hand. “Apex owed him. And they’ve been paying ever since.”
