The morning sun was barely clearing the San Gabriel Mountains when the flashing lights appeared outside my home. It was 7:30 AM. Blue and red strobes painted my quiet suburban street in a garish, urgent glow.

Four Los Angeles Police Department officers were at my door, stern-faced, holding a search warrant. An anonymous tip, they claimed, had reported me for making explicit death threats against the cast and for possessing unregistered illegal weapons. I knew instantly whose “anonymous tip” it was. Chloe’s threat from yesterday.

“We have reason to believe you’re storing automatic firearms and high-capacity magazines that are not registered for civilian use,” one officer stated, his hand resting on his sidearm.

I stood aside, my face betraying nothing. My home armory was meticulously maintained, every single piece legally owned and registered. But this wasn’t about legality; it was about public image.

They swept through my garage, their eyes wide at the sight of my collection of civilian-legal firearms, tactical gear, and training equipment. They photographed everything, their whispers about “military-grade” weapons growing louder.

Just as they were about to move into the house, a black SUV pulled up to the curb. Toby Finch emerged, his face grim, followed by three burly men who were instantly recognizable as senior stunt team veterans. They wore expressions of quiet, contained fury.

“Officer, I’m Toby Finch, lead armorer on ‘Crimson Sands’,” Toby announced, his voice firm and steady. “This is Marcus Reyes. These are members of the film’s stunt department, here to act as witnesses.”

One of the stunt veterans, a burly man named Rick, stepped forward, holding a stack of neatly organized papers. “We have the verified range receipts and a full inventory of all prop units used on set, including Marcus’s personal collection brought in for tactical training. Every single firearm is legally registered, accounted for, and documented.”

He handed the officer a receipt from the local firing range, listing specific weapon serial numbers and dates of use for prop certification. “All firearms Marcus handled on set were either studio-owned props or his personal, registered firearms used under strict supervision for tactical authenticity.”

The lead officer’s face tightened. He flipped through the documents, then glanced at the weapons in my garage, then back at the forms. The meticulous paperwork contradicted the “anonymous tip.”

He exchanged a frustrated look with his colleagues. “We’ll have to verify all this,” he muttered, but his tone had lost its aggressive edge. The claim of “death threats” also seemed to crumble without supporting evidence.

Reluctantly, the officers gathered their equipment. They issued no arrest, filed no charges. But their departure left a bitter taste. The damage was already done. News vans, alerted by the same “anonymous tip,” were already gathering down the street. The headlines would scream again. Julian’s campaign was working.

Toby put a hand on my shoulder as the last police cruiser pulled away. “We’re with you, Marcus,” he said, his voice heavy with resolve. “The whole community is.”

I nodded, looking at the assembled stunt veterans. This wasn’t just my fight anymore. It was theirs, too.
