Her Cult Leader Husband Had a Mistress. Then He Saw Her 11-Day-Old Son and Tried to Erase Them Both From Existence.
Part 1
**💔 Her Cult Leader Husband Had a Mistress. Then He Saw Her 11-Day-Old Son and Tried to Erase Them Both From Existence.**
I simply prepared my newborn son, Ezekiel, for what I thought would be a private marital counsel with my husband, Silas Caldwell, before the Covenant’s Elders. I walked into the sacred chamber, my heart heavy with the weight of my husband’s suspected betrayal.
Instead of Silas alone, Lyra Hayes, a younger member Silas had taken a recent interest in, sat beside him. Their hands were entwined openly.
Silas gave me a dismissive glance, his eyes sliding past me to the swaddled bundle in my arms. A flicker of something — recognition, fear? — crossed his face.
The Elders, however, ignored the baby entirely, their faces grim. Elder Gideon Shaw began to read from a parchment titled “Decree of Spiritual Separation.”
I gripped Ezekiel tighter, my mind reeling. The Elders continued to sit, their gazes fixed on Elder Shaw.
“This council is convened regarding the spiritual separation of Silas Caldwell and Elara Finch,” he announced.
My breath hitched. This was not a counsel; it was a decree.
Silas watched me, a cold satisfaction in his eyes. Lyra, beside him, smirked faintly.
The parchment was already drafted, its words sealing my fate. This was a pre-arranged annulment, not a marital dispute.
They were stripping me of everything, right here, right now. The Elders proceeded, their faces blank, ignoring my presence and the tiny, swaddled form in my arms.
Part 2
Elder Shaw concluded the “Decree of Spiritual Separation.” He then gestured to Silas.
Silas finally turned his gaze fully to me and Ezekiel. That flicker of recognition from before hardened into something cruel.
“This is a grievous moment, Elders,” he began, his voice booming.
“Elara has presented us with a spiritual aberration. This child, born outside sacred consecration, is a false sign.”
My breath hitched again. He was talking about my son.
“Her very pregnancy was a test of her spiritual purity,” Silas continued, pointing a finger at me. “And she has failed. This uncleanliness necessitates her immediate expulsion from the Covenant.”
The room spun. My child, my innocent Ezekiel, was being used as a weapon against me. Silas was using our son’s existence to justify throwing me out. My marriage and my son’s future within the Covenant hung by a single, terrifying thread.
