Clara walked calmly towards Dr. Avery’s office, clutching the USB drive containing the full, handwritten ledger of his illicit bank accounts. Victor Chen, his face impassive, watched her approach. His men had Avery restrained, a strip of duct tape now over his mouth.

“I have something you’ll want, Mr. Chen,” Clara said, her voice steady despite the thumping in her chest. She held out the USB. “A complete, verifiable record of every off-the-books transaction, every shell corporation, every single dollar Dr. Avery embezzled from the Apex Syndicate.”

Chen’s eyes flickered to the drive, then back to Clara. “And what do you want?”

“His complete removal from all medical and scientific records, permanently,” Clara stated. “And the full medical records of his ‘subjects’ restored to their original, pre-trial state. No amnesia protocols, no experimental procedures. Just their true medical histories.”

Chen took the USB drive, his fingers brushing hers. “Done,” he said, without a flicker of hesitation. “Consider it a clean slate for all involved.” He gave a subtle nod to his men.

Avery, muffled but struggling, thrashed against his bonds. Chen simply watched, then turned back to Clara. “You understand that Dr. Avery will… vanish. Completely.”

“I understand,” Clara replied, her gaze meeting his. There was no need for further explanation. The syndicate’s justice was absolute.

She walked out of Sub-Level 4 for the last time, the heavy vault doors swinging shut behind her. She heard no gunshots, no screams. Just the quiet hum of the hospital and the receding presence of the syndicate’s dark sedan. Avery, his crimes, and his legacy of suffering would simply cease to exist. Martha Vance and the other victims would have their true records restored, free from the stain of his experiments. Clara was finally free.
