Chapter 2: B: The Surrender Contract

#content-1

👉 Previous Decision: You chose Option B to sign a 50/50 joint-control agreement with Governor Finch to keep family peace.

Arthur slid the pen across the polished conference table. His hand did not tremble. The modified agreement, splitting control of the $14,000,000 PAC fund, seemed like a truce. A way to avoid the fight. A path to earn a flicker of his father’s approval.

Raymond Cross, Governor Finch’s lead attorney, snatched the document. He scanned the signature, a faint smile playing on his lips.

Governor Finch watched Arthur with cold, unblinking eyes. He offered no handshake, no conciliatory word.

“Good,” Governor Finch said, his voice flat. He turned and walked out, his retinue of lawyers trailing behind him.

Arthur collected his messenger bag, the heavy legal papers still inside. The silence of the office felt suddenly hollow. He had avoided the federal fraud charges, but the peace felt fragile.

Forty-eight hours later, the first news headline blared from a digital billboard above Times Square: “Governor Finch Campaign Acquires Significant New PAC Funding.”

Arthur saw it on his phone. A public statement from his father’s campaign announced an emergency restructuring. They had transferred $11,000,000 of hidden campaign debt from Governor Finch’s failing primary campaign directly onto Senator Albright’s PAC trust.

Because Arthur had signed as co-trustee, federal election law held him personally liable. A regulatory deficit of $5,500,000 appeared on his financial statements.

His personal bank savings, all $14,200 of it, vanished overnight. His credit score, once immaculate, plummeted.

A follow-up press conference flashed across every news channel. Governor Finch stood at a podium, his face grave.

“This rogue staffer,” he said, gesturing vaguely. “Mishandled committee funds. A gross violation of trust.”

Eleanor Finch, Arthur’s sister and campaign manager, stood beside their father, nodding solemnly. Arthur watched from his small apartment, the screen reflecting his hollow face. He had lost everything, without ever touching a single dollar.
