My Husband and His Mistress Shoved Me at My Family's Hospital—Then My Uncle Raymond Showed Up and Uncovered the Dark Secret Behind His Betrayal
The hospital atrium, usually a quiet hub, buzzed with an unusual energy. News cameras were being set up near the main entrance, their bright lights illuminating the polished floors.
Chloe Moreau, impeccably dressed in a tailored navy suit, stood at a podium, flanked by several hospital board members. Her smile was practiced, her posture confident. She was attempting to regain control.
I watched from a discreet distance, a knot forming in my stomach. Uncle Raymond stood beside me, his jaw set.
“She’s spinning a narrative,” he explained, his voice low. “Claiming you had a ‘pregnancy-related emotional episode’ and overreacted. Implicating your mental stability.”
My hands clenched at my sides. How dare she? It was a vicious, calculated lie, designed to discredit me and silence the truth.
Chloe tapped the microphone, a delicate, tinkling sound. “Thank you all for coming,” she began, her voice smooth and professional. “There have been unfortunate rumors circulating regarding Saint Claire Memorial.”
She paused, sweeping her gaze across the assembled reporters. “Let me be clear: any allegations of impropriety or staff misconduct are entirely unfounded. We believe Mrs. Delaney, due to the stress of her pregnancy, may have misunderstood a minor administrative discussion.”
She leaned closer to the microphone, her expression shifting to one of feigned concern. “We understand that pregnancy can be an emotional journey, and we extend our full support to Elena during this challenging time.”
A cynical smile touched Uncle Raymond’s lips. “Unwitting board members,” he muttered. “They have no idea they’re being used as props in her charade.”
A reporter raised a hand. “Ms. Moreau, there are reports of a physical altercation involving you and Mrs. Delaney in the maternity ward. Can you comment on that?”
Chloe’s smile didn’t waver. “As I said, Mrs. Delaney was under considerable stress. Any contact was purely accidental, a misunderstanding exacerbated by her delicate condition.”
The audacity was breathtaking. She was twisting reality, making me sound hysterical and unstable.
Just as another reporter prepared to follow up, a ripple went through the crowd. Phones buzzed. Reporters exchanged confused glances.
A large monitor in the corner of the atrium, usually displaying hospital announcements, flickered. The Saint Claire logo vanished, replaced by a news channel’s graphic: *Breaking News: Saint Claire Scandal*.
A split screen appeared. On one side, Chloe Moreau, still at her podium, mid-sentence. On the other, Maya Lin, sitting in a news studio, her expression calm and resolute.
“Good evening,” Maya began, her voice clear and authoritative, filling the atrium. “I’m Maya Lin, and tonight, we expose a pattern of corporate manipulation targeting vulnerable community health organizations, and one high-profile family in particular.”
Chloe’s eyes, fixed on the monitor, widened. Her hand, poised over the microphone, froze. The board members around her looked stunned.
The screen shifted. Maya Lin appeared alone, then a series of images flashed behind her: the security camera stills of Chloe shoving me, the time and date stamp undeniable. Then, the recovered text messages, scrolling across the screen, highlighting Chloe’s threats about Marcus’s mother’s clinic.
The atrium erupted. Reporters scrambled, shouting questions, but not at Chloe. They were looking at their phones, watching Maya Lin’s broadcast unfold.
Chloe’s face, once composed, crumbled. The calculated moves she’d made had just been trumped by the undeniable truth, broadcast live for everyone to see.
