My Corrupt Uncle Forced Me to Work off Fake Mob Debts in a Backroom Clinic — Until My Sleeves Rolled Up and Revealed My Late Father's Elite Trident Tattoo
The coordinates burned in my mind. I needed to get to that bank. But first, there was Leo. My father’s killer was still free, and Nico’s son was suffering because of it.
I slipped out of the exam room, the UV lamp still humming softly behind me. Victor’s office door was still closed, his voice a low rumble. I knew he wouldn’t be leaving Leo unattended for long, not with Nico’s calls.
I quietly entered the triage room. Leo lay on the table, his eyes fluttering. The flickering overhead light caught the sheen of sweat on his forehead.
“Leo?” I whispered, moving to his side. His eyes slowly opened, unfocused at first, then sharpening as he recognized me.
His lips moved, dry and cracked. “Victor… he made us wait.”
My breath hitched. “Who waited?”
“His men,” Leo rasped, his voice barely audible. “They left us… exposed. During the ambush. Said it was orders.”
He was telling me that Victor had deliberately set up the ambush, letting Leo and his unit get shot. This wasn’t just about money; it was about eliminating anyone who stood in Victor’s way, even a kid from his own family.
“They were supposed to have our backs,” Leo whispered, a tear tracking a clean path down his grimy cheek. “Then… they vanished.”
His arterial line, clumsily sewn by Victor, was starting to weep blood again. He was losing color fast. I knew I had to act quickly, or he would bleed out right here.
I grabbed a fresh suture kit, working with frantic precision. My father had taught me how to stabilize a wound, how to tie off an arterial bleed. I closed the gap, securing it properly this time.
Just as I finished, the heavy door swung open. Captain Nico stood there, his face tight with concern. He saw me, then Leo’s pale face, and the renewed color returning to his cheeks.
“My son,” Nico said, his voice raw.
“Victor’s men,” Leo whispered, louder this time, his eyes fixed on his father. “They set us up, Pop. Victor let us die.”
Nico’s head snapped toward me, his eyes wide, a storm brewing in their depths. He heard it. All of it.
