👉 Previous decision: You chose to stay in the safehouse and wait for Viktor Kostov’s mob squad.
The thought of breaking into the brownstone, the place where Mara and Julian operated, sent a shiver down my spine. The police were looking for me. It was too risky.
“Let’s play it safe,” I told Ethan. “Viktor Kostov’s mob will handle this. They’re professionals. It’s their money Mara stole. They’ll come.”
Ethan looked skeptical, but he nodded slowly. “Alright. I’ll make the calls. You stay here. Don’t go anywhere.”
He left, promising to return with news of Kostov’s assault team. I waited, pacing the small apartment, every shadow a potential threat.

As midnight approached, the low rumble of heavy engines grew audible outside. Not one. Not two. Many.
I looked out the window. The street was flooded with dark, unmarked cars. Figures emerged, dressed in black, carrying weapons.
Viktor Kostov’s mob. They surrounded the safehouse, a silent, menacing perimeter.
But they weren’t here to rescue me. They were here to eliminate everyone involved in the police investigation. To protect their laundering lines.
