Damian Cross stood at the head of Sabrina’s table, the silenced ballroom a sea of frozen faces. Sabrina, having descended from the balcony, now stood rigid beside Julian, her sapphire gown shimmering under the chandeliers, her face a mask of bewildered terror. Leo stood a few feet back, beside Grizz, clutching my arm.
“Good evening,” Cross’s voice was calm, almost conversational, yet it resonated with an authority that silenced every breath in the room. “My name is Damian Cross. I represent the Aegis Group.”
A ripple of nervous whispers went through the crowd. Everyone in this room knew the name. Everyone knew what it meant.
Cross held up the leather-bound binder that Leo had brought. “This document, the ‘Aegis Stunt Liability Agreement – Titanium Flames Production (2008),’ is a private contract between Holloway Productions, Robert Holloway, and the Aegis Group.”
He opened the binder to a specific page, his finger tapping the text. “Section 14-B states that any studio executive or representative who launches a public character assassination campaign against the designated whistleblower, after the expiration of the non-disclosure period, triggers an immediate forfeiture of all studio voting stock and intellectual property to said whistleblower.”
He paused, letting his words sink into the stunned silence. His eyes, devoid of emotion, rested on Sabrina.
“The non-disclosure period for this contract expired yesterday, November 10th, 2023,” Cross announced. “Twenty-four hours prior to this evening.”
Sabrina’s mouth opened slightly, but no sound came out. Julian, beside her, had gone utterly still, his eyes wide.
“Ms. Sabrina Holloway,” Cross continued, his voice now colder than ice, “has, in recent days, engaged in a multi-platform public media campaign, including televised and social media slander, making false allegations of theft and financial misconduct against Helena Holloway, the designated whistleblower in this agreement.”
He held up a tablet, displaying images of Sabrina’s podcast and social media posts. “This campaign directly violates Section 14-B.”
A gasp went through the room. The gravity of his words was sinking in.
“Therefore,” Cross declared, his voice ringing with absolute finality, “under the terms of this contract, and as head of the Aegis Group, I hereby enforce its stipulations.”
He looked directly at Sabrina. “Ms. Sabrina Holloway, effective immediately, you are stripped of all producer credentials, executive authority, and every claim to the intellectual property of Holloway Productions.”
Sabrina staggered backward, bumping into Julian. Her face was bloodless.
“Furthermore,” Cross continued, his gaze sweeping over the room, “all studio voting stock, all intellectual property, and all associated assets of Holloway Productions are hereby transferred, in full, to Ms. Helena Holloway, the designated whistleblower.”
He lowered the binder, a silent pronouncement of absolute power. My name echoed in the stunned ballroom. The room erupted in a cacophony of whispers and gasps. One hundred percent. Everything.
Sabrina swayed, her hand flying to her mouth. Her empire, her legacy, her entire public identity – annihilated in a single, chilling declaration. By a contract she didn’t even know existed, enforced by the terrifying silence of the underworld.
The victory, though absolute, felt like a cold stone in my stomach. The true price of silence, delivered with brutal efficiency.
