My Husband Recruited His Family to Strip My $3.8M Assets Over My Son's Secret Father—Until My Brother Found the Hidden Studio Logs Proving the Truth
The polished iron gates of Eleanor Bennett’s Bel-Air estate swung inward with a low hum. Greg pulled his sleek black sedan up the winding driveway. His mother, Eleanor, stood on the grand porch, arms crossed over an expensive silk blouse. Beside her, Greg’s younger brother, Marcus, and his sister, Chloe, waited with tight, expectant expressions.
Eleanor’s gaze, usually sharp with critical assessment, softened slightly as Greg approached.
“You look exhausted, darling,” she said, her voice a low purr, but her eyes scanned him for weakness.
Greg managed a curt nod. “It’s been a long day.”
“Well, it’s about to get longer for Maya,” Marcus interjected, a small, humorless smile playing on his lips. He adjusted the cuff of his tailored suit jacket.
Inside the cavernous living room, filled with antique furniture and priceless art, they gathered around a large oak table. A legal pad lay open, covered in Eleanor’s elegant script.
“We’ve drafted a unified affidavit,” Eleanor announced, tapping the page with a manicured nail. “It details Maya’s erratic behavior, her secretive finances, and her general instability dating back to 2014.”
Chloe nodded. “Mother and I remembered some… incidents. Periods of extreme mood swings.”
Greg picked up the document. He scanned the fabricated timeline, a careful blend of half-truths and outright lies designed to paint Maya as an unfit mother and a financially reckless producer.
“This is exactly what we need,” he said, a cold satisfaction in his tone. “To show the courts she’s been a liability for years, long before this paternity scandal.”
Meanwhile, miles away in Burbank, I slid into a booth at a quiet diner. The aroma of stale coffee and sizzling bacon hung in the air. My younger brother, Ethan, was already there, hunched over his laptop, its screen casting a blue glow on his focused face. He pushed a mug of black coffee towards me.
“You look like you haven’t slept,” he observed, not looking up.
“It’s been a lot,” I admitted, taking a sip. The coffee was strong, bitter. “Greg’s gone full scorched earth. His family is now involved.”
Ethan finally met my eyes, his usually calm demeanor edged with a subtle tension. “I found something. About your accounts.”
My stomach tightened. “What is it?”
He turned the laptop slightly, pointing to a line of code on the screen. “Your primary business bank account. The one for Lin-Bennett Productions.”
“What about it?”
“The access password was changed three days ago,” Ethan said, his finger tracing the digital timestamp. “Not by you. Not by anyone with your authorized IP address.”
I leaned closer, my breath catching in my throat. “Who then?”
“The system logs show the alteration was initiated from an IP address linked to Darren Fallow’s personal office network.”
Darren Fallow. My studio accountant. The man Greg had personally vouched for three years ago. A cold wave washed over me.
“He works for us,” I whispered, the words feeling hollow. “He’s supposed to protect our assets.”
Ethan closed his laptop with a soft click. “He changed your personal access code, Maya. It’s a full lockout. You no longer have direct digital control over your company’s main operating funds.”
The realization hit me with the force of a physical blow. Greg wasn’t just filing papers. He wasn’t just spreading rumors. He and his accountant were actively, systematically, stripping me of everything I had built, one calculated move at a time. The ground beneath me felt like it was crumbling.
