Chapter 8: A: Understated Parking Lot Reveal

#content-1

👉 Previous Decision: You chose to hand the printouts of the financial bank statements directly to the lead anchor covering Arthur’s arrival.

I lunged forward, pushing past a startled security guard. My hand, trembling, thrust the folder into the grasp of the lead anchor from Channel 7 News. “These are bank records,” I gasped, my voice raw. “Proof. Arthur Halloway is running a money laundering operation through Apex Analytics. The severed floor… it’s a human firewall.”

The anchor, a woman with perfectly coiffed hair, looked from the folder to Arthur, then back to me, her eyes widening. Her camera crew zoomed in, capturing every beat of the unfolding drama. Arthur’s face, usually so composed, crumpled. His jaw went slack, his eyes fixed on the folder in the anchor’s hand.

“Mr. Halloway!” a reporter shouted, thrusting a microphone forward. “Your son-in-law claims you’re laundering money. Is this true?”

Arthur opened his mouth, but no sound came out. He stammered, his gaze darting around the frantic scene, searching for an escape. His body tensed, a visible shiver running through him. He took an involuntary step backward.

Marcus Devlin tried to intervene, but the reporters, sensing blood, swarmed closer. The anchor opened the folder, her eyes scanning the printouts. “$50 million… daily… through a Cayman Islands shell corporation?” she read aloud, her voice ringing clear over the din.

Arthur turned abruptly, shoving past Marcus, his face beet-red. He stumbled into his waiting limousine, slamming the door shut. The driver, caught off guard, gunned the engine. The car screeched out of the corporate parking structure, leaving behind a bewildered crowd and a stack of damning evidence. The shareholders looked at each other, murmuring, their faces etched with confusion and dawning horror. The quiet, understated reveal had exploded into public chaos.
