The control room was cold, despite the humid New Orleans night. Marcus didn’t even register my presence at first. He was staring, mesmerized, at the spectral waveforms dancing across the main LED screen. The sound of “Hollow Soul” was distorted, fractured, the ancestral resonance a palpable vibration in the air.

“Marcus.” My voice was a whisper, but it cut through the eerie music.

He flinched, snapping his head up. His eyes, bloodshot and wide, were filled with a raw, panicked fear. He looked less like a powerful music mogul and more like a cornered animal.

“Nia?” he croaked, his voice hoarse. “What are you doing here?”

He made a move to shut off the console, to silence the haunting track, but his hand trembled, hovering uselessly over the faders. The music continued its spectral loop, mocking him.

“You’re hearing it, aren’t you?” I asked, stepping further into the room. The blue light from the screen cast stark shadows on his face, accentuating the lines of stress. “Mama’s message.”

He swallowed hard, his gaze darting to the “Producer of the Year” trophy beside him. The metallic sheen seemed to mock his current terror.

I walked to the main console, ignoring his protest, and powered on the larger, central LED screen above the mixing desk. The sudden burst of white light made him recoil.

On the screen, I cued up Devante’s evidence.

The security video of Marcus in Mama’s home studio played silently. His younger, more aggressive self loomed over Mama, his hand reaching for the demo tape.

Then, the spectral audio stems kicked in, layered over the silent video. The ghostly whispers of Mama’s voice, echoing his threats, filled the room.

*”…you think you can just take it? Steal my legacy? You will pay, Marcus…”*

Marcus watched the screen, his breathing shallow. His eyes were glued to the image of himself, his past actions laid bare, intertwined with the spectral accusations.

The studio monitor speakers began to rattle. The glass mixing desk vibrated. The sound from the screens, the spectral frequency, pulsed through the room, a physical force.

He tried to look away, but couldn’t. His gaze was fixed on the screen, on the younger, crueler version of himself.

“You knew it was cursed,” I repeated, my voice steady. “Mama’s letter. She warned you. She told you what she did to the original tapes.”

The spectral voice on the screen echoed, *”…ancestral resonance… punishes greed…”*

Marcus let out a ragged breath. His hand balled into a fist, then unclenched. He was trapped, not by physical bars, but by his own past, amplified by the supernatural.

He rose slowly from his chair, his eyes still fixed on the screen, on the pulsating light, on the ghostly sound. His “Producer of the Year” trophy sat ignored, a testament to a stolen triumph.

“You thought you could just erase her,” I said, my voice rising above the spectral hum. “Her name, her legacy, her very spirit. But she fought back, Marcus. Even from beyond the grave.”

He looked at me, then back at the screen, then around the vibrating room. The spectral frequency was getting stronger, rattling the soundproofing on the walls, making the very air crackle.

The ghost of Mama Camille was here, in this room, tormenting the man who had stolen her song and tried to erase her. And I was here to witness his reckoning.
