Chapter 12: Ambiguous Immediate Resolution

Julian was still on his knees, his hands clasped, a sniveling wreck. The sight should have brought me satisfaction, but mostly it just brought a cold, hard clarity. This wasn’t about him. It was about me.

“First,” I stated, my voice devoid of emotion, “you’re going to delete every single post.”

His head snapped up. “What?”

“Every defamatory post you put on the university forum. Every message in the family chat. Every single lie you spread about me crashing your car.” I gestured to his laptop. “Right now. While I watch.”

His eyes darted nervously between my face and the open laptop screen. “But… if I delete them, it looks like I was lying.”

“Because you were,” I countered. “And I have the proof, Julian. Right here.” I tapped the flash drive in my hand. “Do you want everyone to see this video, along with the paperwork from your canceled insurance policy?”

He flinched, a low groan escaping him. He knew he was trapped. The risk of public humiliation, of losing everything, was too great.

He scrambled back into his chair, his hands shaking as he pulled the laptop closer. He logged back into the university portal, his fingers fumbling.

“Which ones?” he muttered, his face pale.

“All of them,” I said, leaning over his shoulder. “Start with the ‘Maya Kincaid: Reckless Driver’ thread. And the one about ‘$100,000 in damages caused by joyriding.'”

His mouse clicked frantically. Post after post vanished from the forum. His own words, accusing me, condemning me, simply disappeared into the digital ether.

Then I made him open the family group chat. Messages he’d sent earlier that morning, full of feigned heartbreak and accusations, were still there.

“Now those,” I commanded. “Every single one. And send a message saying your previous posts were a mistake.”

He typed, his face etched with pure humiliation. *’I retract my earlier statements regarding Maya and the car accident. There were misunderstandings.’* He didn’t even dare to mention the details.

“Is that all?” he asked, his voice barely a whisper, as the last post dissolved.

“No,” I said, my gaze firm. “That’s just the beginning.”
