When an Outsider Trustee Discovers Her Corporate Neighbor Poisoned a $40 Million Heiress's Corgi to Steal Estate Control, an African Grey Parrot and an Accidentally Found Document Expose the Gaslig...
The silence that followed Eleanor’s removal was profound, almost deafening. The board members exchanged uneasy glances, a mixture of shock and quiet relief washing over their faces. The harsh, brutal reality of the underworld’s intervention hung in the air, a stark reminder of Eleanor’s reckless depths.
Arthur Albright, who had stood frozen in place, slowly sank back into his chair. His face was pale, his eyes distant, as if he were seeing ghosts. Julian Dax, though visibly shaken, maintained a professional composure, his gaze flicking between Arthur and me.
“Gentlemen,” Arthur finally said, his voice raspy, “and Ms. Lin.” He took a deep, shuddering breath. “It seems… it seems my wife has been engaged in activities far beyond our comprehension. And far beyond the law.” He gestured vaguely towards the door where Eleanor had been taken. “Her actions… they are an affront to this company, to this family, and most gravely, to my daughter.”
He pushed a button on the table, and a new stack of documents appeared on a display screen. “Effective immediately, Eleanor Albright’s name is hereby formally and permanently revoked from all corporate standing within Albright Holdings. Any and all access, privileges, and titles she held are rescinded.”
A quiet murmur of agreement went around the table. No one protested. The overwhelming evidence of her deception, topped by the syndicate’s brutal intervention, left no room for doubt or defense.
Arthur then turned his gaze to me, his eyes filled with a weary but deep gratitude. “Ms. Lin, you have uncovered a conspiracy that threatened to destroy not only this company but the very soul of my family.” He looked down at his trembling hands. “My daughter, Chloe, has suffered unimaginable emotional trauma, and Barnaby… Barnaby nearly paid the ultimate price.”
He paused, then pushed a document across the table towards me. It was a formal trust declaration. “I need to ensure Chloe’s future is absolutely secure. Unencumbered by greed. Protected from any further manipulation.”
His eyes met mine, steady and earnest. “I am formally signing full, unencumbered trust protection over to Chloe Albright. And I am appointing you, Ms. Lin, as primary independent trustee. With full oversight and unchallengeable authority over her $40 million corporate trust. I trust your judgment implicitly. You saved her. You saved us all.”
The weight of his words, and the trust he was placing in me, settled on my shoulders. It was a massive responsibility, but one I accepted without hesitation. I picked up the pen and signed the acknowledgment of my new role.
“Thank you, Mr. Albright,” I said, my voice firm. “I assure you, Chloe’s interests will be my absolute priority.”
Arthur nodded, a faint hint of relief finally softening the hard lines around his mouth. “And Julian,” he added, turning to his assistant. “Your actions… your loyalty to Chloe and to the truth will not be forgotten. I want you to work directly with Ms. Lin to untangle Eleanor’s financial mess, to ensure no shadow of her debts or deceptions ever touches Chloe’s inheritance.”
Julian, still pale but with a renewed sense of purpose, gave a sharp nod. Eleanor was gone. The immediate crisis was over. Now, the healing could begin.
