My Husband Staged a Public Attack at Our Hospital Wedding to Frame Me for Merger Fraud — Until I Opened the Sealed Red Envelope
The last words of Marcus Chen’s confession hung heavy in the air, indicting Julian Delaney with chilling precision. The ballroom was no longer a wedding venue; it was a crime scene, and Julian, now stripped of all pretense, stood exposed.
Julian finally moved, his eyes wide and frantic. “This is outrageous! You can’t do this! I demand to speak to my lawyer!”
“You’ll have ample opportunity, Dr. Delaney,” Detective Alvarez stated, his voice flat. He gave a nod to the two federal agents who had been standing guard.
Without a word, the agents stepped forward. One moved towards Julian, the other towards Bianca, who was still weeping on the floor. The metallic glint of handcuffs flashed under the chandeliers.
“Dr. Julian Delaney,” the lead agent said, his voice devoid of emotion, “you are under arrest for federal healthcare fraud, forgery, and illegal drug administration.”
Julian watched, horrified, as the agent produced a pair of handcuffs. His face contorted into a snarl. “No! You can’t! She’s my wife! Spousal privilege!” he screamed, gesturing wildly at me. “She can’t testify against me! Our marriage protects me!”
The second agent was already gently pulling Bianca to her feet, placing her hands behind her back. She offered no resistance, only silent, defeated tears.
Detective Alvarez stepped forward, looking directly at Julian. “Spousal privilege, Dr. Delaney, does not cover ongoing joint criminal enterprise. Your wife, Dr. Elena Howard, is a whistleblower, not an accomplice. And the evidence, including the audio recordings and the forensic reports, speaks for itself.”
The click of the handcuffs reverberated through the stunned ballroom. Julian Delaney, moments ago the confident groom, now stood with his hands cuffed behind his back, his body rigid with shock and fury. He was no longer a respected hospital executive; he was a federal detainee.
“Bianca Gable,” the agent announced, reading from a small card, “you are under arrest for federal healthcare fraud and perjury.”
She whimpered as the cold steel closed around her wrists. The yellow silk of her dress seemed to mock her, a garish symbol of her downfall.
Two hundred wedding guests, including medical colleagues and hospital board members, watched in stunned silence as Julian and Bianca were led towards the ballroom doors. As Julian was escorted past me, his eyes met mine. There was no love, no regret, only pure, unadulterated hatred.
“You’ll regret this, Elena,” he hissed, his voice raw with menace. “You’ll lose everything.”
I met his gaze, my expression unwavering. “I lost everything the moment I realized who you truly were, Julian. Tonight, I simply reclaimed my truth.”
The sound of their footsteps faded as they were led away, the flashing blue and red lights of federal vehicles visible through the ballroom’s grand windows. The wedding, meant to be a celebration of love, had ended in federal arrests, the beginning of a long journey towards justice.
