Chapter 14: Digital Retribution

#content-1

👉 Previous Decision: You chose Option B – Force Julian to evacuate the basement immediately, leaving the physical book to burn while relying on the digital fax copy.

“Forget the book!” I screamed, grabbing Julian’s arm. “We have to go!”

He struggled, his eyes fixed on the burning wall. “No! I need it! It’s proof!”

But the smoke was too thick, the heat too intense. I dragged him, kicking and coughing, up the basement steps.

We burst out into the night air, gasping for breath as smoke billowed from the gothic gables of Hollister House. Sirens wailed in the distance.

Julian collapsed on the wet grass, staring at the inferno. The original physical ledger, the last tangible link to Eleanor’s warning, burned to ash in the basement vault.

“It’s gone,” he choked, tears mixing with soot on his face. “All of it.”

“No,” I said, watching the first fire truck pull into the driveway. “The digital copy. The fax. It’s already been logged.”

From my dispatch terminal, I had transmitted the complete Section 12 covenant copy directly to the State Tax Enforcement Division and Julian’s primary lender.

The state judiciary portal had already registered the document. Automatic liens had triggered, freezing Julian’s corporate accounts across three separate lending institutions.

The physical book was gone, but the truth, once exposed, could not be unwritten. Julian’s corporate accounts, his lifeline, were severed.

His fraudulent empire, built on a foundation of lies, was now collapsing under the weight of digital retribution.
