Chapter 15: The Silent Turn

#content-1

At precisely 11:45 PM, the emergency board meeting reconvened. The room was tense, the air thick with unspoken expectations.

Sarah Kincaid, her eyes still sharp with ambition despite the market’s hold, wasted no time.

“I call for a formal vote,” she announced, her voice piercing the silence. “To declare the Reynolds Global voting trust invalid.”

All eyes turned to Arthur Garcia. This was his moment to reclaim control, to fight for his corporate dominance.

Instead, Arthur stood up. Slowly.

He said nothing. His face was a mask of quiet resolve.

He stepped away from the head of the table, towards his seat. He slid his official director credentials across the dark wood. A quiet, definitive gesture.

Then, he formally recorded his abstention on the official record. Not a vote for, not a vote against. An abstention.

Without Arthur’s crucial vote, Kincaid’s litigation motion collapsed instantly under corporate bylaws. No speeches were made. No voices were raised.

Arthur simply turned. He walked out of the room, leaving behind the silence, the flickering screens, and the stunned board.
