👉 [Previous Decision]: You chose to infiltrate the HOA administrative headquarters tonight without preparation.
The outrage simmered in my gut. Donald Kincaid’s smirking face, the stacks of legal threats, the oppressive silence of the enclave—it all pushed me over the edge. I wasn’t going to play his game. I was going to expose him tonight.
I waited until the streetlights cast long, lonely shadows, then slipped out of my house. The HOA administrative headquarters loomed in the distance, a modern glass and steel structure, ironically designed to look inviting.
I kept to the shadows of the perfectly sculpted bushes, my heart thumping a frantic rhythm. There was a side door, partially obscured by an ornamental tree. It looked like a service entrance, perhaps less fortified.
I reached the door, my fingers testing the cold metal handle. It was locked, of course. I pulled a bobby pin from my pocket—an old trick from my wilder days, rusty but maybe still functional. I worked at the lock, my brow furrowed in concentration.
A sharp click echoed in the silent night. The door gave way. A triumphant surge went through me.
The moment I stepped inside, a piercing, high-pitched alarm shrieked, bouncing off the polished floors and glass walls. Red emergency lights pulsed overhead.
“Halt!” A booming voice.
Two burly security guards, emerging from what seemed like thin air, closed in on me. One grabbed my arm, twisting it behind my back with brutal efficiency. The other pinned my shoulder. My bobby pin clattered uselessly to the floor.
“Unauthorized entry,” one guard grunted, his grip like iron. “No resident pass.”
My face flushed. I struggled, but their hold was absolute. Moments later, Donald Kincaid himself appeared, striding into the lobby, his expression one of cold satisfaction. He held a stack of freshly printed documents.
“Leo,” he said, his voice dripping with condescension. “Always so impulsive. Such a shame.”
He gestured to the guards. They pushed me towards a small, stark interview room. Inside, Donald handed me the papers. Restraining orders. Lawsuits for property damage, invasion of privacy, trespass. The final page was a legal declaration of my complete industry blacklisting.
“This enclave has eyes everywhere, Leo,” Donald said, his voice flat. “Did you really think I wouldn’t be prepared for your antics?”
My career, my reputation, my freedom – all of it crumbled around me.
