My Cult Leader Stepfather Dumped Four Yards of Concrete Over My Truck to Trap Me — Until My Daughter Pointed at His Porch
The thick, gray concrete, still glistening, slumped over the tire of my F-150. It had formed a solid, unyielding blanket.
But something felt off. Too soft.
I reached into my duffel bag, pulling out the small, chrome-plated pocket penetrometer from my civil testing kit. It was a tool I’d used countless times on bridge decks and building foundations.
I pushed the needle into the wet slurry near my truck’s front wheel. It sank, sluggishly, into the gray paste. Not the sharp, immediate resistance I would expect from a standard concrete mix after ten minutes.
My training screamed. This was not normal.
I pulled the tool back, examining the calibrated scale. The slump was high, far too high for a standard foundation pour. A memory surfaced, a specialized project I’d worked on years ago.
“Sucrose retarder,” I murmured to myself.
Tobias had ordered a high-dose retarder chemical mixed into the batch. It was an additive that significantly delayed the concrete’s hydration process, keeping it workable for hours, even days, before it began to truly harden.
He hadn’t intended for the concrete to stay wet forever, not to simply make a point about my truck. He needed the 48 hours of pliable slush.
He needed time to retrieve whatever he had buried under the porch. That was the real purpose of the pour.
