My Cult Leader Stepfather Dumped Four Yards of Concrete Over My Truck to Trap Me — Until My Daughter Pointed at His Porch
Sunday morning. The air was crisp, but a heavy tension hung over the compound courtyard. Thirty members of the Purity Covenant stood assembled, their faces solemn, their gazes fixed on Elder Tobias Garman. He stood on the elevated porch step, his customary place of authority.
He held a worn leather-bound Bible, but his eyes were not on the scriptures. They were on me.
“Mara Hensley,” Tobias’s voice boomed, amplified by the morning stillness. “You have defiled sacred ground. You have brought the ways of the world into our purity. By the authority granted to me by the Council of Elders, you are hereby expelled from the Covenant.”
A murmur rippled through the crowd. Ruth, my daughter, stood near the front, her eyes unwavering, her expression unreadable.
I stood my ground, my hands behind my back. In my left hand, concealed from Tobias’s direct view but clearly visible to those around me, I held the heavy steel cylinder, its cap removed. My right hand gripped the oilskin containing the cash and the stack of Canadian resident cards.
My plan was simple. I would expose him. I would show them all the greedy thief he truly was. I would reveal how he had stolen their tithes, liquidating their assets into untraceable bonds and stashing the cash for his own escape, planning to abandon them all.
I was ready to unleash the truth, convinced I was about to save them from a corrupt leader.
