Arthur met him in the grand foyer, a vast space that echoed with every footstep. He wasn’t alone. His estate lawyer, a stern woman in a severe grey suit, stood beside him.
Arthur’s face was a mask of cold fury, his jaw clenched. “You will place the canvas in my trunk immediately, Julian.” His voice was low, cutting.
Julian held up the prints. “This is Madeline. Our mother. You hid her, didn’t you? Erased her memory.”
Arthur’s hands, usually so steady, began to tremble. His face flushed a deep crimson. “You are deluded. I will file a mental incompetence injunction against you. I will seize all your assets. Don’t test me, Julian.”
