My High-Society Father Dismissed My Supersonic Jet Warnings As Hysteria Until He Crashed The Simulator — Then The Defense Board Forced Me To Take His Place
Julian Croft took a hesitant step back, his eyes wide and panicked. He glanced desperately at Arthur, who simply stared ahead, his face a mask of stone. The general’s gaze was unyielding, pinning Julian where he stood.
“Mr. Croft,” Kensington repeated, his voice lower, more dangerous. “Fraudulent bankruptcy filings, diverted funds… These are federal offenses. I will ask you again: explain yourself.”
Julian’s composure crumbled. He began to sweat profusely, dabbing at his forehead with a handkerchief. He looked like a cornered animal.
“I… I have a secondary ledger,” Julian stammered, his voice a pathetic wheeze. “A digital one. Encrypted.”
He fumbled in his inner coat pocket, retrieving a small, secure tablet. His fingers trembled as he unlocked it, his eyes pleading with Arthur. Arthur, however, remained silent, his betrayal already evident in his rigid posture.
Julian held up the tablet, turning it towards the board. “It contains the true records. Orders… directives.”
He scrolled through the files, pausing on a specific entry. The name “Arthur Harrington” appeared in bold at the top of a series of transactions.
“Mr. Harrington personally commanded me,” Julian confessed, his voice breaking. “He ordered me to liquidate Dr. Elena Harrington’s assets. To stage her financial collapse during her divorce. To declare her… mentally unfit to manage her affairs.”
The words hung heavy in the air. The low whispers in the room intensified, turning into a stunned murmur. Julian’s shoulders slumped.
“He claimed it was necessary,” Julian continued, his voice barely audible. “To keep her locked into the company. To prevent her from leaving Harrington Aerospace with her flight control patents. Her genius, he called it. He couldn’t risk it.”
A collective gasp went through the high-society investors. The facade of old-money prestige shattered, revealing the ugly truth of calculated cruelty and corporate greed. Arthur Harrington finally reacted, a vein throbbing in his temple. His perfect, controlled world was unraveling.
