The AI I Programmed Claimed My Body Was Sealed Behind My Bedroom Wall — Then My Son-In-Law Handed Me An Eviction Notice
LOGOS continued to churn through the old digital backup drives recovered from Eleanor’s desk. Arthur had given the AI explicit instructions to find anything related to construction or finances from 1994.
A notification flashed across Arthur’s monitor. “Video file recovered. Timestamp: November 14, 1994, 02:17 AM. Source: Master bedroom security camera.”
Arthur clicked to play. The grainy, black-and-white footage flickered to life. The master bedroom, dimly lit, slowly resolved on screen.
Eleanor appeared, her movements furtive. But she wasn’t alone. Another figure, smaller and hunched, moved beside her, struggling with a heavy bag of quick-set plaster.
Arthur zoomed in. The face was unmistakable, though thirty years younger. Great-Aunt Beatrice.
The footage showed Beatrice and Eleanor actively working, mixing plaster, passing tools to construction workers who quickly, efficiently, sealed off the portion of the wall. Later, another clip showed Beatrice handing an envelope of cash to two men in work uniforms, who then left quickly in a nondescript van.
LOGOS overlaid an analytical report. “Financial transaction detected: Two payments, each for $1,500 cash, to ‘county inspection services’ in November 1994. Corresponds with local building permit application date.”
Beatrice hadn’t just witnessed Eleanor’s actions; she had been an active participant. She had carried the plaster, helped seal the room, and then bribed the original building inspectors to look the other way, ensuring the hidden wall went unnoticed.
The weight of the family’s complicity settled heavier on Arthur. Eleanor, Beatrice, and now, he knew, himself, unknowingly tied to the dark secret. The entire Kincaid family had played a role in burying Thomas, not just physically, but literally.
The matriarch, burdened by guilt, had only told half the story. She was not just a silent witness, but a full accomplice.
