My Brother Served Me an Eviction Notice After 27 Years at Our Firm — He Didn't Know I Owned the Patent Entity and the Building
Richard Holbrook closed the final page of the audit summary with a crisp snap. The silence that followed was absolute, broken only by Arthur’s ragged breathing.
Holbrook looked at the board members, his gaze steady. “Given the irrefutable evidence of gross corporate malfeasance, fraudulent activity, and the resulting financial collapse of Gable Dynamics due to the loss of core intellectual property and loan default, the board has only one course of action.”
He turned to Arthur. “Mr. Gable, you are in direct violation of your fiduciary duties, and your actions have caused catastrophic damage to this corporation.”
Arthur tried to speak, but no sound came out. His face was slick with sweat, his eyes wild with terror.
“Therefore,” Holbrook continued, his voice firm, “I call for an immediate vote on the removal of Arthur Gable from his position as Chief Executive Officer of Gable Dynamics, and from the board of directors, effective immediately.”
The board members, one by one, raised their hands. Not a single dissenting vote. It was unanimous.
This was Twist 14, Layer 1: Arthur was stripped of his CEO title and ordered off the premises immediately. His face crumbled, all the bluster and arrogance replaced by a raw, naked fear.
“No,” he whispered, shaking his head. “No, you can’t. This is my company. My empire!”
“It is no longer, Mr. Gable,” Holbrook said, his voice devoid of emotion. “Your access codes will be revoked, and you are to vacate the premises immediately.”
As if on cue, the boardroom doors opened again. Two grim-faced men in dark suits, followed by two uniformed officers, entered. They weren’t process servers this time. They were bank marshals.
They walked directly to Arthur, each holding a stack of official-looking papers.
“Mr. Arthur Gable,” one marshal stated, his voice flat. “We are here on behalf of Northern Trust Bank. Due to the immediate default of the $40 million loan, we are executing a court-ordered seizure of all collateralized assets.”
He handed Arthur a document. “This includes the luxury vehicle fleet registered under your name, the property deed to your estate, and all personal investments pledged against the loan.”
This was Twist 14, Layer 2: The luxury fleet and personal assets Arthur pledged as collateral were seized by the bank within hours. Arthur stared at the papers, his hands trembling violently. His empire, his home, his identity – all of it was vanishing before his eyes.
“The vehicles are currently being impounded from the corporate parking garage and your residence,” the marshal added, his voice devoid of sympathy. “And an assessment team is en route to your estate now.”
Arthur looked around the room, his eyes pleading, frantic. He met Chloe’s gaze, but his daughter only looked at him with a chilling, detached horror. She had seen too much.
His shoulders slumped. He looked like a man who had just lost everything, because he had. The crown had been stripped, and the fall was swift and absolute.
