👉 Previous action: Detective Halloway confronted you with a drawn weapon, but Maya revealed the live stream was being monitored by State Police.
The sirens grew to a wailing crescendo, echoing off the surrounding houses. Three State Police cruisers, lights flashing, screeched to a halt in the driveway. The front door, still open from Julian’s earlier forced entry, now served as a breach point for a squad of troopers.
“Oakridge PD, put the weapon down!” a commanding voice boomed.
Halloway’s face drained of all color. His hand, still holding his sidearm, trembled. He looked from the incoming troopers to the live stream on Maya’s phone, then down at his own gun. With a defeated sigh, he let the weapon clatter to the floor.
Julian, seeing his entire carefully constructed world crumbling, lunged. He grabbed the crowbar he’d dropped earlier and swung it wildly at my laptop.
“You little brat! You ruined everything!” he shrieked, his voice raw with pure, unadulterated fury.
But Arthur, his face a complex mix of shame, grief, and dawning anger, moved faster. He tackled Julian to the ground, a desperate, guttural roar escaping his throat. The crowbar flew harmlessly into the wall. It was a father finally breaking free from years of denial and compliance, years of enabling his son’s dark machinations.
State troopers flooded the hallway, their presence overwhelming, their commands sharp and concise. The nightmare was finally ending.
