Tied Up and Dumped Into a Raging Western River by Her Greedy Ex-Fiancé to Steal Her $4 Million Riverfront Ranch, a 19-Year-Old Native Girl Is Rescued by the Giant Black Bear She Raised in Secret
Tyler finished his presentation, bathed in the camera flashes of the local news. He puffed out his chest, inviting questions from the commissioners.
“Mr. Lawson,” Commissioner Evans began, clearing his throat. “We’ve received a number of… shall we say, counter-filings, regarding this proposal. Particularly concerning the environmental impact and the precise boundary lines.” He gestured vaguely in my direction.
Tyler’s slick smile tightened. “Those are baseless accusations, Commissioner. The claims of a disgruntled individual with a personal vendetta. Our surveys are flawless, our environmental impact studies impeccable.” He glanced at me, a venomous edge in his eyes. “Perhaps Ms. Redhawk would like to present her… evidence.”
This was it. My moment. I started to rise, reaching for my satchel.
“I have here,” I began, my voice clear and steady, cutting through the murmurs, “the original survey of my family’s land, dating back generations. And alongside it, the new, fraudulent survey provided by Lawson Development, which illegally encroaches upon my federally protected wildlife sanctuary.” I pulled out the original deed and the yellow folder, holding them up. “This isn’t just about property lines. It’s about a deliberate attempt to misrepresent facts, to steal land, and to endanger an entire ecosystem for profit.”
I laid out the documents on the table, carefully arranging the notched brass tag detail next to the scar on my hand, then pulled out the environmental reports, complete with the photos of the diesel runoff. The commissioners leaned forward, their expressions shifting from polite skepticism to growing alarm. Jackson Lawson, in the front row, had gone rigid.
“And if I may present further,” I continued, my voice gaining strength, “my son, Leo, found this folder within your temporary office, Mr. Lawson, confirming a clear intention to move property markers and commit environmental fraud.”
Before Tyler could even open his mouth to deny it, before any commissioner could ask another question, the double doors at the back of the room burst open. Three stern-faced individuals in dark suits walked in, flanked by two uniformed federal marshals. The chatter in the room died instantly. Every eye was on them.
One of the men, a tall woman with her hair pulled back in a severe bun, held up a document. “State Banking Regulators. Federal Marshals. This hearing is suspended indefinitely.”
She walked directly to Tyler, bypassing the commissioners entirely. “Lawson Development Corporation, Jackson Lawson, and Tyler Lawson. Your accounts are frozen. All assets are hereby seized pending investigation into multiple counts of loan default, investor fraud, and financial mismanagement.”
The room erupted in gasps. Tyler’s face went from angry red to sickly white. His father, Jackson, shot up from his seat, shouting incoherent protests. The confrontation I had prepared for, the grand unveiling of my evidence, was abruptly, violently cut short. The system had come for Tyler, not with a whisper, but with a roar.
