👉 Previous Choice: You decided to accept the $2.5 million cash settlement to rebuild your broken life in silence.
“I’ll take the settlement,” I told Reynolds, my voice flat. “But I need proof. The money in my account. The license restoration papers. Before I hand over anything.”
Reynolds chuckled, satisfied. “Of course. Let’s arrange a meeting tomorrow morning for the exchange.”
As soon as I hung up, I called Helen Lawson. “They’re offering me $2.5 million to keep quiet,” I told her, my voice low. “I’m meeting them tomorrow to finalize it.”

My breath caught. It was a risk, a massive gamble, but it was Arthur’s downfall without my direct implication. I could have my life back, and he would still face justice, albeit from a distance.
“Do it, Helen,” I said, the words a quiet command.
