My Sister Called My 8-Year-Old Daughter Useless at Her $300,000 Wedding — Until My Daughter Took the DJ Mic and Revealed the Federal Wiretaps That Ruined the Groom
Sophia, regaining her composure after Frank’s bombshell, saw the tide turning. The murmuring among the guests was growing, a tide of judgment rising.
“This is a federal raid!” Sophia shrieked suddenly, her voice piercing the din. She pointed at me, then at Frank. “They’re federal agents! They’re raiding the building right now!”
She spun towards Guard DeLuca, who was still standing by the entrance, looking utterly bewildered. “Pull the fire alarm, DeLuca! Clear the hall! Get these traitors out!”
DeLuca hesitated, glancing nervously at Julian, then at a formidable man sitting at the head table. Carmine “Uncle Carmine” Moretti, the syndicate patriarch.
Carmine, a man whose stern face rarely showed emotion, slowly raised a hand. It was a small gesture, but it commanded absolute stillness. His eyes, dark and unblinking, scanned the room.
His personal enforcers, large men in dark suits who had been subtly spread throughout the banquet hall, moved with silent precision. They approached every exit door, including the service pantry, and discreetly engaged the heavy internal locks. The metallic clicks echoed faintly in the suddenly hushed room.
“Nobody leaves,” Carmine’s voice, deep and resonant, cut through the tension. “Everyone remains seated. My men will secure the perimeter.”
Sophia’s eyes darted wildly. She grabbed Julian’s arm, her perfectly manicured nails digging into his suit. “Julian, we have to go! Now! Elena is working with federal agents! They’ll take everything!”
She tugged at him, trying to drag him toward a side exit near the linen vault, a desperate panic in her movements. “They’ll raid your offices! Seize your assets!”
Julian, however, stood firm. He looked at Sophia, his eyes cold and distant. He slowly, deliberately, pulled his arm free from her grasp.
“No,” Julian said, his voice flat. He turned his attention to Frank Caruso, who stood calmly, the small black transmitter still in his hand, a weathered leather ledger now visible tucked under his arm.
“Frank,” Julian demanded, his voice echoing with authority. “Let me see the full document packet. All of it. Right now.”
The shift in Julian’s demeanor was palpable. The naive groom was gone, replaced by the calculating syndicate underboss. Sophia’s face went white. The fire alarm remained silent. The doors were locked. And everyone, including Sophia, remained seated.
