Trapped inside an abandoned Cold War military asylum by my son-in-law while tens of thousands watch live
👉 Previous decision: You navigated the sealed landing and found an open ventilation duct.
The siren continued its relentless shriek, vibrating through the metal walls of the ventilation duct. Arthur stared into the darkness, the dust motes dancing in the beam of Julian’s utility light.
“It’s a tight squeeze,” Julian observed, his voice echoing slightly. “But it’s our only option from here.”
Arthur leaned closer, peering into the claustrophobic opening. The air inside smelled of stale metal and decades of accumulated dust.
“This system fed the entire facility,” Arthur said, remembering the blueprints. “Must lead somewhere important.”
Julian nodded, then pointed deeper into the shaft. “It splits, sir. One path goes up, the other down.”
The duct branched, one section angling sharply upwards, the other descending into the building’s deeper levels. The upper path probably led towards the rooftop transmission tower, a faint hope for communication. The lower path, however, might lead to the old archives.
“Up towards the tower?” Julian prompted, looking at Arthur. “Or down… to wherever the other one goes?”
Arthur pressed his lips together. The tower represented escape, a direct solution. The archives represented answers, the truth he had come to find.
“Which way, Arthur?” Julian asked, his flashlight beam wavering slightly.
The siren seemed to intensify, driving his decision. He had to choose, and quickly.
