Trapped in a Night Rideshare Driven by My Father-in-Law Heading Straight to a Dark Cemetery
👉 Previous Decision: You chose to take the cryo-case and the letter, lock Arthur inside the vault control room as he asked, and head down the tunnel alone.
My jaw clenched. Every instinct screamed to stay, but Arthur’s resolve was unyielding. “I’ll make sure Lily gets this,” I promised, my voice thick.
With a heavy heart, I helped him into the vault control room, then pulled the massive iron blast door shut. The clang echoed through the subterranean chamber. Arthur was locked inside.
I didn’t look back. I forced myself into the narrow, dark utility pipe, dragging the heavy cryo-case with me. The tunnel was a claustrophobic crawl through cold concrete, but Arthur’s words propelled me forward.
I emerged into the cool night air of a public park, gasping for breath. The nearest building was a gas station, its neon sign a beacon in the darkness. I burst inside, ignoring the startled clerk, and immediately contacted Detective Ray Garrity.
“I have proof, Detective,” I panted, my fingers flying across the phone screen, transmitting the encrypted flash drive files over a secure network. “Metro Healthcare is involved in organ trafficking. Arthur… he’s in danger.”
Meanwhile, back in the mausoleum vault, Arthur watched as Cross-Lin’s security team began to cut through the blast door. He retrieved a road flare from a hidden compartment, then cracked open a small methane valve near the back of the chamber.
A faint hiss filled the air. Arthur held the burning flare, its crimson glow illuminating his face. “You won’t break through,” he declared, his voice firm, “until the police arrive.”
