Trapped in a Night Rideshare Driven by My Father-in-Law Heading Straight to a Dark Cemetery
👉 Previous Decision: You chose to grab the steering wheel from behind to force the car onto the soft shoulder and crash it to a stop.
I lunged forward, my right hand clamping onto the cold plastic of the steering wheel. Arthur grunted in surprise as I yanked it hard to the right. The car screeched, tires spitting gravel. The sudden, violent swerve threw my body against the seatbelt.
“What are you doing?!” Arthur’s voice cracked, but it was too late.
The vehicle fishtailed across the wet, dark ground, slamming through a low wooden perimeter fence. Splinters flew. A sickening crunch echoed through the cabin as the passenger side crumpled against the rough bark of a massive stone oak tree. Then, silence.
The airbags deployed with a dull roar, filling the space with the smell of burnt plastic. Arthur’s head slumped forward against the inflated fabric, unconscious. My own head throbbed, but I was clear.
I tore the satchel from the footwell, fingers fumbling with the clasp. Inside, nestled amongst folders, was a sealed medical cryo-manifest. My breath hitched. Lily’s patient ID number was printed clearly on it. Below it, a timestamp: Midnight.
The sound of an engine growled in the distance. Headlights, sharp and intrusive, swept across the main gate of the cemetery, approaching fast. My mind raced.
